It was a mcalpine as nothing but the best curse 40 fking quid now!

The top is losing its plating which is annoying and when cleaning is gradually disintegrating. Is the only way to replace it to have the shower tray lifted? (impossible)

Buy the new one, and use the metal top part to replace the existing.

It should unscrew and be removable from the top. (it may be better to cut the old one apart to avoid stressing the part you need to reuse)

Reuse everything under the tray, maybe replace the rubber seal if possible.

Parts G and H lift straight out.

Parts A B and C are the ones you are interested in replacing.

The plastic trap body (E I think) stays as-is.

When A is unscrewed though surely it's likely that the trap body below will drop down. I have seen these used (which to be fair is just a bodge) as they can overlap part A.

If it’s the one I’m familiar with then when you lift out G you can invert it to use to unscrew A - it has fins that fit into slots for this purpose.

But the bit that the OP wants to replace is part H which just lifts out.

Ignore me, I looked again at the picture and can see part A needs replacing too.
