Old batteries/iPower storage inverter

I've recently inherited my father's house. It has solar panels on roof and inverter and batteries in the garage shown below.
EDF is paying for generation, but I can't make out what the batteries are doing/for. The inverter is off, and trips off when switched on.
I can't find who installed the system (it's over ten years old, probably rather older).

I'd like to clear out the garage but this is taking up a decent chunk of space.

Any ideas who I could contact to assess/remove?

There will be text on the batteries somewhere, long side most likely.
They look like they could be large lead/acid batteries.
