Driving home from footy at around 10pm last night, I came across various wildlife.

First was an animal skipping across the road, "that's a fox" "easy" says wildlife spotter dirt.

Then a little muntjack thingy, running by the hedge looking for a gap. Another easy spot, as they're pretty common.

Plenty of rabbits in the fields.

Then.

This monster rodent.

No tail, so wasn't a rabbit or hare (no ears of note that I could see) or squirrel or rat.

It was similar in size to a rabbit, but in all honesty, probably bigger.

Looks like a giant guinea pig or similar, brown colour?

Any takers?

Coypu most likely, they were introduced back in the 60s I think, bit of a pest species.

Cross between a Capybara and a Coypu seems the most likely, but definitely no tail.

Not a badger or otter, come across enough of those to recognise.

Not near a river.

Capybara are bloody big animals, a metre and a half a the shoulder, or so.

Are you up in East Anglia, Dirty?

I was driving about near Lowestoft the other month and very nearly hit a Muntjac, then about a mile later, nearly hit a half dozen Roe deer.

I have now installed a deer whistle.

hehe
