Bullie nose bleeds - Bex? TheVet?
Discussion
Over the last few weeks Stella has had a few nose bleeds!
It started with a profuse unilateral nose bleed and I rushed her to the vets, who did a blood screen for clotting and fungal. Which both came back normal.
The vet suggested wait and see. She had a couple of very minor ones, then a big one at the weekend and another on tues night. her nostril is dribbling with a bloody mucous constantly now.
She's booked in tomo and the vet wanted to sedate her and take xrays and a biopsy.
Surely there must be a lesser diagnosis then jumping straight to tumor?
We're seeing a different vet tomo, hoping she suggests something else because I'm worried sick

They are right to be advising xrays/ biopsies/ swabs the works basically. Dogs don't get nose bleeds in the way we do so it is right to get it investigated. I would not hesitate if it were Jimmy.
It's not just tumour but fungal infections as well. The sooner they are caught the more successful the treatment.
I hope it gets sorted quickly I know how worrying these type of things can be. You are obviously entitled to see another vet but I'm not sure they'd advise anything different.
Swabs are usually taken for fungal infections not bloods?
Has the colour of her nose changed at all recently eg paler?

I'm only seeing a different vet because it's the original ladies day off, not because I don't trust her.
She defo said bloods for fungal and clotting, which were both normal.
Stella has been sneezing and puffing out of her nose a lot, and last night seemed to be kinda snoring a bit laid on her back. She's sleeping more than normal, although eating ok.
I had a patient complain this week that I wasn't chatty and I literally don't think I can cope if it's something terrible.

Please try not to think the worse (though you know I understand why you would) it's just the nose is hard to examine/ treat without some investigation which needs to be done with at least a sedation. I am sure they will take swabs/ flushes of the nose as well as biopsies. My cat went through all of this recently (tumour was a concern) we found she has chronic virus issues and mycoplasma intense antibiotic treatment has worked well for her so far. We would not have got such good info without all these tests. If she is insured get them to do any test that could be applicable to nosebleeds and mucus if no grass seed etc found. She defo said bloods for fungal and clotting, which were both normal.

I'm sorry you are having to go through this, I really hope it's just an infection, will be thinking of you both tom x
We're going to try antibiotics for a week and if she's still sneezing by next weds she'll be sedated and have a camera up her nose and poss xrays. MRI last resort.
Driving up to the vets she was looking round, with a big trail of snot hanging from her nostril, such a princess!
Fingers crossed the tablets do the trick, vet said inhalation of something was top of her list.

Omg, I can't believe it, I am so so sorry, I had really hoped she was doing better after your last update. I don't know what else to say
. I'm so sorry the vet could do no more, did they suspect a tumour
.
My thoughts are with you. Especially as I will have to making that dreaded decision in the next few days for our dear Jimmy.

Thanks both, yeah straight away he said this is an invasive tumor, I can't stop the bleeding. We can refer you to the royal college, but she has such a poor prognosis. he tried adrenaline up her nose but it made no difference.
She was such a good girl, I can't believe it. I knew in my heart it was the worst when I posted here.
