We had Fudge from when he was about ten months old, as an adopted dog. We had to take him to the vet today at 13 1/2 to be put to sleep as his arthritis meant he was struggling to get up. It was definitely the right thing to do, the vet was fantastic, Fudge was so patient waiting to go in just like it was any other trip out and he really did just slip away without any fuss.
I'm utterly heartbroken.
Miss you, Fudge.

Today is some ways worse than yesterday. Got up today and had a "moment" when he wasn't on his bed in the lounge. I can't bring myself to move his bowls, his bed or throw out the mashed swede and carrot he had with his kibble. I made some toast and saved a corner of crust for him like I always do... Except there was no Fudge there.
