Tempting a cat back ..
Discussion
My Girlfriend has 2 beautiful cats (brother and sister), but one of them (male) has recently been returning home less and less and now is away for whole days at a time. It used to be a very affectionate cat, sleeping on her bed and loving cuddles, but the other day the cat wouldn't even come to my girlfriend when she was outside with his favourite food. Obviously this upset my gf as it's now got to the point where she can't even cuddle her own cat.
The other cat (female) is if anything more affectionate now and seems to be clinging to my gf more and more as if she's missing her brother and wants to stay with the gf more.
Does anyone have any good ideas to tempt the male cat back inside? He's roaming around somewhere in the area because he does come back occasionally, usually to eat and then disappear off again.
I've suggested that if she can get hold of him to put on a collar explaining to anyone else to not feed him, people think they're being kind by feeding a cat but they're fickle creatures and it's easy to lose one to another house with better tasting fish or something!
Any help appreciated. Thankyou.

Thanks. As there's 2 cats are those collar activated catflaps a good idea? that way the female cat can go out when she wants but the male will be kept in. Or does that bring resentment when the male cat is watching the female out having fun, and he's stuck looking through the window ..

make sure the tag activated catflat locks it both ways. the two I have had have always let the cat out, only locking it when the cat is coming in.Legacywr said:

Should tell you everything!
A member of the extended family lives in the area they were filming this. They came around asking him to sign a document saying it's ok to use footage shot on his property.Should tell you everything!

He refused because he didn't want a camera crew jumping over his fence, stamping all over his lawn and watching him in his house.
The concept of the camera being attached to the cat....couldn't grasp it. Fortunately I can nod, smile and walk away. The poor researcher though apparently started to lose her rag a little.
The day our female and male kittens got the snip at around 5 months, I had to lock the boy in the bathroom as he kept attacking his sister as she had one of those cone collars on. I didn't want her stitches to be ripped.
It's a big room and he had a litter tray and some food and I left a very small gap at the top of the window for air.
Come the morning and he's gone. It's a shear drop from the 3rd floor or a 2ft vertical climb up lead flashing to the flat roof. Thankfully I didn't find him crumpled down below but I did think we had lost him as even if someone found him, he had never been out so no collar or microchip.
A couple of hours later I told the ex when she came round for the kids and she was really upset and went walking up and down the street. He was spotted, meowing like crazy clinging to a chimney stack on a house 7 down from us.
I did climb onto our roof and try to entice him by shaking his food but he wasn't having it.
Luckily the house he was on was being renovated so when the builders turned up to work I was able to reach through the French Doors in the loft bedroom and grab him. He wasn't happy, ungrateful little sod

We had exactly this at our old house. Brother/sister cats, the girl was almost a self imposed house cat the boy just buggered off for days on end. Turns out 2 teenage girls were feeding him and encouraging him into their house. We had a number of run ins over this - it's not their cat, so don't f
king feed it. They didn't listen and it continued. There was a whole host of drama's regarding them which I won't bore you with, but I'll bet a neighbour is feeding your cat. I'd suggests asking around and having a friendly chat to try and amicably sort it out. As it happens we ended up moving (not because of this!)Cats are sluts though!

I'm waiting for GPS devices to become small/cheap enough that a cat could wear it on their collar.
Bob cat has a loc8tor tag, but that's not the same thing as being able to track him via satellite.
