My poor Rolo has come down with Radial Nerve Paralysis.
He has no use at all of his front leg, and is barely mobile with a bit of hopping. He's still eating - in fact I've never known him so hungry, and annoyed that he's been confined to a small room. Yes he's been to the vet, been x-rayed etc. so its a definite diagnostic. The Vet's not sure of the prognosis atm as it may self heal with rest, but there is a possibility of him becoming a tripod cat and a very worrying possibility that it may be the symptoms of lung cancer
An old picture of him showing his PH credentials

I can't remember a cat ever then getting lung cancer after a radial nerve paralysis. Not saying it isn't true but I am hoping this means it is quite rare. Much more likely is some sort of trauma induced paralysis rather than medical. Though obviously a tumour around the area of paralysis is a small possibility, but xrays should've shown that.
It will take several weeks to know if he will recover, just out of interest why has been so confined, is it just for his safety due to clumsiness because of his bad leg?
Have you been given any physiotherapy advice for it? This will really help blood floiw anbd reduce muscle loss.
Have you been warned about self trauma? especially if some sensation starts to return (due to strange sensations in the limb)
I really hope he can make a full recovery from it

He's being confined on the vets advice, back to see the vet on Tuesday so it may change.
As for the cancer, the x-rays showed some blockage to the back of the lungs that could be just some food that's gone down the wrong way, but could be something more serious, and the two could be linked. Its too early to know so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Ingested food? very unlikely and not good prognosis, bruising/fluid/cancer more understandable and likely although the latter is an odd conclusion. Radial paralysis usually self cures with time as long as leg doesn't get hurt by dragging etc. If the onset of lameness/paralysis was very quick, and the leg has in effect lost the ability to be extended/placed forward, then you have an almost certain diagnosis. Hope there is quick improvement for you and puss.
Blockage is probably the wrong word, but then I'm an engineer not a vet. All I understand is that the vet noticed something in the x-ray that could be noting, could be serious and may or may not be related to the paralysis.
There does seem to be some improvement tonight - he can move the paw a bit and almost made a proper step
so hpefully he's self healing rapidly.

This is so unlucky, it can happen after a trauma but it's not common. I remember a cat suffering a pulmonary embolism after recovering from some nasty injuries from an rta. Just when we thought he'd made it through he succumbed to something beyond our control and lost his fight.
You have my deepest sympathies, this is so unfair but it was the only decision to make, this is such a horrible thing to happen but such the tiniest chance of recovery.
