I was cutting down a tree today and was surprised to find a birds nest with 2 chicks up there.

I had waited until I thought the tree was clear as I had seen a lot of activity with small birds a few months back and thought I could hear chicks. Anyway, I have not seen a bird fly into the tree or heard chicks for a long time.

But there are some up there and they are young but are huge and ugly and I am guessing they are pigeons? I'm probably wrong but there are a lot of pigeons around here and they have to be something about that size.

I left the tree alone when I found them.

Is it possible that the parents will abandon the chicks? I have not seen them attending to the chicks, but nor had I previously.

The nest was completely hidden and is now a bit exposed and I can see the chicks from my bathroom window.

Are the parents likely to abandon the chicks (I would feel pretty bad if they died as a result of my actions) or should I just leave them?

Now they are exposed to this heat we are having I suspect they will perish, parents will probably abandon the nest now it's been exposed,
Do you have wildlife rescue nearby? Google it .
I have hand reared pigeons , pretty easy to do.

Cock. I'll have a look at the wildlife rescue and hand rearing if nothing is nearby.

If they live and then sit on my chimney coo-cooing down it like the rest of them I will not be impressed.

They are pigeons as the parent is at the nest, yay. Still concerned about them being exposed to the sun but I think they'll have a better chance if I left them alone.
