Can someone help identify this bee/wasp for me please? Spotted on the NW coast.

looks like some type of hover/bee fly!

Looks quite like a Pellucid fly (according to my insect book) that's a type of hover fly.

Excellent, well done you! - interesting, they're British but not very common. Good find.
