Took a little unwell last week, not eating or drinking. To the vet on Monday and an overnight stay. Diagnosed kidney failure. Called very early this morning and arrived at the vets in time. No drugs needed. Gave her a cuddle, she gave me a quiet meow, a gentle purr, snuggled her head under my chin and quietly went to sleep.

She will be missed.

It's amazing how cats seem to know.

Years ago, my parents were on a 2-week holiday. I grew up with the cat, but I had left home. I was back at the house whilst I was working locally for a week. My sister was also there looking after the cat.

I was sat on the doorstep one evening after work, and an elderly Sammy emmerged from under a small conifer. He sat next to me with his head on my lap while I made a gentle fuss of him for 10 minites or so. He then gave me a gentle lick, and he disappeared back under the conifer. This was a little out of character for him.

He obviously came in through the cat-flap over night to fall asleep in the hallway, where we found him in the morning frown

Sorry for your loss.

Thank you folks.

Always a happy cat with never a hiss or moan at anyone or another cat for that matter.

I'm so glad she didn't wander off somewhere feeling ill and die alone. It was good to be there for her, at the end.

Sorry for your loss, it is better if you are there at the end.

Black Cat came for a tickle, wandered out, never came back. We knew he was near the end, guess he decided to spare us the job. Still miss the old man, over two years on.

Know exactly how your feeling, lost one of my old girls midnite Sunday, gently stroking her head on our bed.
It's gutting to lose them, took our remaining indoor cat to vets on Monday as her teeth were giving her problems, vet wouldn't operate because of her age and she found a mass in her belly, that's all I needed to hear the day after losing one.

Sorry OP. Man hugs to you, and if you want to cry, just go right ahead and do it.

Toys collected and put on her favourite chair. Bowls washed and put away. Cushion in front of the fire plumped up.

Not coming back though.

I miss this little ball of fur.

Going to bed now.

Thank you. I have the frothy mouth bubbles thing going on just now.

I have many fluffy mice dotted around my bed. I don't feel it sad, rather a memory of a lovely companion for the last 10 years that has gone.

What a wonderful thing 'creation' has given us? That we may be companions for other animals? And they for us.
