Considering that, little over a year ago, I had never considered owning another dog, I have somehow become a fool for them !!
Monty is a wonderful and characterful little boy who has made me change for the better.

So...Yesterday I received an e-mail from the gentleman from the rescue kennels offering us first refusal on a 3 year old 'yorkie'. We really weren't looking for another dog but he seemed to think we would be ideal candidates for a re-home ( We feel quite humbled by this )..

This afternoon Monty, my wife and I went to meet the little girl.

She is a very good natured dog. A little nervous but who wouldn't be in a situation that she doesn't understand.
Monty and 'her' seemed to get on well and we have decided to take her on a one week trial to see if they are ok together in what is essentially, Montys' space.

Now for the sad bit.
She was found after someone discovered her owner dead in his house. We don't know how long she had been alone, unfed or how the gentleman died.. A sad case all round.

It appears that he may have been deaf as there was a small yellow tag on her collar with a phone number stating 'I am deaf'. The dog hears perfectly..

We haven't told our son yet...Leaving it as a surprise.. smile

Really looking forward to giving a little girl a second chance.. The same as we did Monty.

I will post pics at the weekend.

Aww bittersweet story. She may be a bit traumatised by what she experienced but in time with a family she will do well. Will look forward to the pics smile. Hope it all works out.

Well... Here she is !!!

I picked her up at 12-30 pm, with Monty and drove home together.
They took very little notice of each other on the 10 min journey, other than the occasional sniff !

Having seen that there was no apparent jealousy or aggression, I let them both into the living room, shut the door and went for a pee !..
Came back down to a very happy scene with both dogs wagging tails and happy looking (if you know what I mean )

I took them both for 1 mile walk and they both behaved faultlessly with each other. Most importantly, Monty does not seem at all jealous.

The only issue so far has been that when the new girl was introduced to My 14 year old son, she growled and bared her teeth !.... I do that to him too, so understandable behaviour !!! wink

She seems easily surprised and a little nervous at times but I am very confident that she will improve rather rapidly !

Oh.... Her name ???? Well We have called her Carla...
Work it out.. It is 'Suffolk' for a posh place in the south of France wink

My 'rents have a yorkie/cha-wow-a (how do you spell that?) looks just like a yorkie but gets cold easy. They have such a big personality for a tiny dog don't they? even funnier when they visit with her & the little'un nicks our staffie's bed etc & gets away with it!

How strange that you should type 'little'un'.

That is what the previous owner called Carla !!.. It is even on her chip details !!

Dogs the size of small horses do eat rather a lot though scratchchin.

Ahh but it'll think it's small because of the name & not eat much....

rofl^^^^^^^

Still hasn't eaten a full meal yet ! A few nibbles but not a proper bowl full.
Probably settling in nerves.. ( plus full of dentostix and treats ! ).
Bought some different foods to see which she prefers. Monty doesn't give a ****. He eats whatever !

Has anyone got the link between names yet ?
wink
