Argh! I just moved 3 of the little critters and stepped on a 4th. Makes me feel so guilty to leave one with a broken shell so I usually obliterate it. Anyone else feel bad?

Yes I do. Pathetic as it may be, I do try to avoid them as much as possible.

Same here. Jogging is as much about observation as endurance for me..

Really??? We've got an "All creatures great and small" forum? I would never have known if not for this thread being moved! hehe

I trod on a frog or toad yesterday morning while walking the lads, couldn't do anything about it, but did feel bad nonetheless.

As for snails and slugs, what a pain in the a**e. Presumably, once the snail's shell is cracked, it's game over....

Weird, the lounge is for non car stuff, who's going to read this in here FFS? I never stepped in here before. Thread death imminent.

I've been bothered about killing a fly yesterday in my art class - fortunately haven't trodden on any snails for some time.

No I like gardening, I either stamp on them or throw them over the fence into neighbour that pissed me off last year.

THIS.

Collect them up, put in a tank and feed them on nothing but grated carrot, and a shallow bowl of water. After about a week all the droppings should be orange, so they are safe to eat. Put in fridge so they seal their own shell. Then put into boiling water, winkle out the meat with a toothpick, and shallow fry with garlic. Fantastic.

Another idea is Mendip Wallfish.

TBH, there are so many of the little feckers in my garden, munching my precious plants, I can't see why anyone wouldn't eat them.

I hear they love a bit of salt. Sprinkle a little on them and you'll see their mouths water.

If you can remove the shells they can heal but the weight reduction doesn't make them faster, if anything they're more sluggish.

I found a particularly large slug stuck on a trowel in my garden the other day. I tried to flick it off several times by waving the trowel with increasing force, to no avail.

When I upped the force enough to succeed, the slug hit the lawn with enough force to burst.

Sorry, fella!
