shaved cats

Had my 2 kittens spayed on monday, 1 male and 1 female. everything looks to be fine so far. very fast recovery, same night in fact. Thing is Bella the female was shaved on her right rear flank and her front paw, Dennis the lad was just left with a bald front knee. any idea on how long the fur takes to grow back ? Bella is washing around the bald area and not touching the tiny wound so is being a good kitty. It just looks wrong though, plus i was amazed at just how skinny and odd a cat is when there is no fur there.

Millie had her pipes modded mmid Dec. The fur is growing back but its nowhere near fully re-grown

OP some have a good coat appearing by their 10 day ck up others long. Whether they are moulting or not can make a difference. 4-6 weeks should show a good regrowth.

Are they long or short hair? Obviously will take longer to grow back fully for long-hairs - our youngest Maine Coon female was entire when we got her so we had her spayed, took a good 2 months to look back to normal.

Our elder MC is a boy and had to have a patch on his chin shaved when he was in for some dental work so his long beard was sort of split down the middle for weeks. We struggled not to laugh at him for some time

One of ours had her arse shaved to remove a polyp. We couldn't stop laughing. Cats hate being laughed at!

Whilst keeping them clean, not exactly shaved, wait till you have to wash one (someone had an oily sump). Apart from the loss of your blood, they look miffed and very skinny after.

Hope you do not have to fit a funnel. I know I should not but

One of ours would not leave the stitches alone so had to fit one. Fur grew back quite quickly but the biscuit bowl was a hoot.

they are both british shorthairs, just the basic black and white variety. cheers for the info. My little female does look funny and does seem to get pissed when i laugh at her washing round the edges of her bald patch. Wonder if i can get chain mail locally for bath time

I've got the same thing - after the first day Rosie has been ignoring her bald patch.
I thought they might be a bid subdued for a couple of days - none of it, straight back into krazy Kitten mode

To me the fact they went straight back to being mental moglets, made me have great faith in my ( new to me but recommended) vet. Plus the vet is cute

The husband is desperate to shave the cat as he thinks it would be funny. It is very long haired, and looks like a massive ball of fluff at the minute due to a winter coat. Huge.

This took poor old Monty best part of 3 months to grow back
