Norwegian Forest Cats
Discussion
So after losing our previous rescue cat literally just after Christmas, we felt the house needed some furry beings walking around so started the search for another rescue / rehome. This time a pair to keep themselves company. The local Cats Protection had a pair of 4yr old brothers looking for a home so we thought we'd give them a once over. Needless to say, we took the cat boxes and 'donation' and came home with two cats.
They were listed as 'Domestic Long Haired' cats and are typical tabby, but talking to the re-homer, she said they'd got some Norwegian Forest Cat in them. Google-Fu found pictures which were fine, and it remained to be seen how much NFC they had in them. Looking at the photos below, I think the proportion is somewhere between mostly NFC and totally NFC. They're big lads, a visit to the vet on Wednesday will reveal how big. We've named them Erik (as in Viking) and Magnus (which is apt as he's possibly in line for a diet). Definitely 4yrs old, rehoming rather than rescue as the previous owners new partner is allergic. They're finding their feet, but are quite friendly already.
Features wise, I'm seeing Lynx like tufts on the ears, ruffs around the neck, double coat, big bottlebrush tail, and they have snowshoes (furry feet underneath). These photos are of Erik as he's the more brave, Magnus is a little photo-shy but is more than happy to appear for food.

Look like NFCs to me too. We've got two cats that we were told are Maine Coons. We've got ours on PetPlan as "domestic long hairs", which I guess they still are; we have nothing to prove that ours are actually Maine Coons other than that they're quite big and have some of the typical physical characteristics.
The crazy (but actually very nice) cat lady that runs the cattery we use reckons ours are possibly Maines crossed with NFCs. Anyway, yours are lovely looking creatures, if they're as good natured as they are handsome they'll be a delight.

Their natures are 'guarded' at the moment as they've only been with us a couple of days. They've been indoor cats for their whole lives so far (4yrs), which is a shame for such a cat as they've clearly got the outdoor instinct. We'll be fixing that once they've got used to us.
Interestingly, for being brothers, they're completely different. Erik is the brave one, he marched round the house no problem and checked everything out, even my 4yr old daughter and 1yr old son. Magnus promptly hid behind a sofa and only ventured out for food. He was out and about a bit more yesterday but not to the same degree. Erik got out once when he was with the re-homer, and he caught a mouse. This is excellent news as we are rural and have mice around and about, so we're hoping they can both get used to the idea and Erik can train Magnus to hunt too. Both are quiet in terms of vocals, but are prepared to turn-turtle for a tummy rub at a moments notice.
Time will tell.....

Lovely cat you got there.
We got this guy just before Xmas

He was a rescue and classified as a log haired tabby but I think he has some NFC qualities about him; double coat, thick tail, fluffy paws, and full on wisps in the ears! Either way he's lovely and we're immensely happy with him.

By the way OP, where did you get that leather chair from? It's fantastic!

Finally got a picture of the pair of them, together, in some light, while not racing around...
Been through the Vets, alls good in love and war. Erik on the left is the little one and is 4.8kg. Magnus on the right is tipping the scales at 5.05kg. Vet says at 4yrs old there's a little growing to do, but not much. Think when they get outside in the summer Magnus should lose a little weight.
