Cat scratching posts
Discussion
Does anyone know of a decent scratching post for cats that isn't covered in sisal rope?
One of my pair of moggies keeps getting irritant conjunctivitis from tiny flecks of sisal getting into his eye when he uses his tall scratching post. The sisal was fine when it was new, but he enjoys a good long scratch at it and it wears away quite quickly. They have currently got one of the tall barrels covered in a sisal mat rather than rope so I can't replace the sisal when it's worn. The problem seems to be because he likes a good scratch while standing tall and the fine particles float down into his face. We're now onto the second large scratching post in several months and they're quite expensive!

Thanks for the suggestions. Google wasn't turning up much in the way of alternatives.
Hopefully I can get the sisal off in one piece and use it as a template to cut a remnant of carpet to fit - the barrel has got three hidey holes for the cats to play in. They're going to be a swine to cut round and make pretty
Worth a try though.
