Cat scab on head
Discussion
Hi All,
My cat came home with a red mark on his head (as though he had bumped it), I couldn't see any scratches so assumed he hadn't been in a fight. Fast forward a few days and his red mark has turned into a scab. I would say he doesn't scratch no more than any other cat, but because of his scab it is preventing the healing process and making it bigger (I occasionally find a little scabby tuft of fur on the floor).
He then got into a fight with another ginger cat who came into the garden, and now appears to have similar marks on the opposite side of his head but in exactly the same place.
I have him booked into the vets, and because the marks are on the same place on both sides of his head I got paranoid and started googling cat and scabs, and now am concerned it may be scabies.
From previous experience I know he wont wear a cone on his head, so am hoping they can give some kind of cream to stop it itching (if that's the reason he is scratching.
I have attached 3 photos, and was wondering if it looks like normal cat fight injurys or something more sinister.
Original Injury

Secondary injury on other side.

Thanks in advance

Try not too worry. Wait til the vet has assessed it. Luckily cats are good at healing so with the right treatment he should get better quickly. (the bad news is he may HAVE to get used to a collar I can give you a fee tips if he is given one (ask if they have soft collars available.
Occasionally a skin complaint is the problem and can take time to heal but this is not as common as cat fight wounds or fleas.

My cat Basil loves fighting, you would think that after 15 years he would learn that he is just a wimpy cat that always seems to get beaten up (although never actually seen the other cats so maybe wrong)
He is always coming home with injuries like your cat on his head and ears and what you need to watch out for is them getting infected and then it's the vet with a course of antibiotics, he has never had to wear a collar.
We get Hibiscrub liquid from the vet and used it watered down to clean any wounds and that has stopped many a trip to the vet.
