Our 12 year old GSD is displaying some odd symptoms and we are not sure what is happening. About 6 months ago she went off her food and after several trips to the vet was discovered to have an abcess in her hip that was about ready to rupture; she had done such a good job hiding it that it got so bad before it was fully appreciated.
For the last few weeks she has been really picky about her food, one minute eating protein only the next ignoring the protein and digging into her biscuits. She also has a low grade pyrexia and has been started on antibiotics and omeprazole. Over the weekend the fussines over the food got worse and she had a vomit overnight 2 consecutive nights. The really odd behavior though was on Sunday evening when she was tucking into her dinner. She suddenly stopped eating, her eyes glazed slightly and then she just walked away and looked a bit distant. After an hour or so she became a little more alert and we managed to hand feed her some food.
Does this sound like a focal seizure or a TIA? How do we get the vets to listen to us; every time we take her she is as bright as a button so we think they think we are being neurotic!
Any thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated (sorry for any typos as well; doing this on my phone!)
Thanks in advance.

Try videoing the behaviour first. Vets can really only go on what they see in front of them and results from tests but video footage can be helpful to see how an animal behaves at home. I had to for my cat because he was only displaying certain behaviours at home.
If still not happy or still feel not taken seriously tell them you are going to seek a second opinion.
