Discussion
There's a bird outside, I'd like to know what it is.
Makes a chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp.
Usually about 6 chirps in a row.
High pitched, bit like a squeeking hinge, but a short single note.
No melody or tune, just the one note.
Sounds like a smallish bird (if that's not a daft thing to say).
Any idea?

I've just been going through the birdsongs of the common garden birds on the RSPB website and came up with Tree Sparrow as the most likely culprit

Or what about a Siskin?

That's close, very close, but I'm not convinced, it was at 5.30 this morning, I was snoring, Mrs H listened to it. Its always very early.Captured it on my phone this morning.

Yep definitely. We've got one of the buggers doing the same at the moment too. Slightly more irritating than the blue tit and slightly less irritating than the male sparrow who sits on the wire outside the bedroom and has bugger all sense of rhythm - loud, randomly timed individual shrieks. Little git!
