Identify this bird please

We're not going to go for our Big Year or anything, but so far in the last year we've seen a few birds unseen by either of us previously.
Puffins, lapwings, woodpeckers, treecreepers, heron, shearwaters, gannets, and a little brown thing hopping around on stones in a river that I can't remember the name of.
Not a twitcher by any means, but really enjoying the feeling of discovery when we see these things.

Little brown thing a Dipper by any chance?
That rings a bell. We looked it up when we got home, but the rigours of a couple of pints have dulled the ornithological senses.Funny little thing though, cross between a wader and something that doesn't really like to get its feet wet.
Will check to see if I got any reasonable pictures.
