Used to have a 2ft tropical when I lived at my parents, it came with me when I moved in with the wife but I gave up when we had kids, toddlers and large vessels of water dont tend to mix.

So, I now have a spare wall following a room being remodeled and the kids are all teenagers, it is my man cave/AV room.

So, do I go for the usual Neon Tetras, Silver Dollars etc or are there some good alternatives, kind of shying away from Marine but may bite the bullet, want something that doesn't take an half an hour a day like Discus, am thinking a three foot tank.

Any ideas gratefully received.

I have become a big fan of Rift valley cichlids. They are easy to keep, and are as close to the stunning colours of marine species as you will get without the hassle and expense of a saltwater system.
