Do you mean what raw foods?

Or are you asking if raw foods would be better for her? Or even suitable for her?

I'll have a look into it. I believe diabetic dogs do fare slightly better on raw foods.

You may have some problems moving a 14 year old onto raw.

OK I've asked about to make sure, and people say the same as I thought.

Basically, any raw food with blood in it (things like raw beef chunks) should assist. The odd bit of liver and heart too of course, but never much of these are they can be very rich.

In terms of diabetes, the general raw feeding view that I am aware of is that the raw meat doesn't contain all the additives and so on should assist with this too.

There are a lot of places to look if you want to start a raw diet.

One further thing to bear in mind is that her "bloods" will be different. So your vet needs to know what the standard raw fed bloods are.

And good luck with her, I expect you will see some improvement in her.

Oh also, when you say slowly move her over, please don't continue to feed her kibble - this can be digested at a different rate and lead to a blockage.

There are also some raw feeding groups on facebook if you want to know more/find suppliers in your area and so on.

Someone else I was speaking to suggest rabbit was the best bet as it is low in carbs, sodium and fat. Obviously fed raw.

That should be easy to get hold off. We are back to the vet next week with a urine sample but she is back to her old self thank goodness.
