Which vacuum should I get?
Discussion
Got a black lab - despite constant grooming (I could create a new dog at least once a week with the amount I get off him) and vacuuming our flat is always a mess with clumps of black hair everywhere.
But the flat is small and laminate flooring - we're soon moving to a big house with cream carpets. I fear our Henry Hoover just won't do the job!
Been looking at the Miele cat & dog models... Is there anything better?

My parents & Grandparents have always had Vorwerk Hoovers. I say always had.. they've never broken! Mum still has hers from 1987, her mother has an earlier one from 1985 and I'm sure my nan still has hers from around then as well. I wasn't going to buy a Vacuum until I could afford one (They are still better than most other vacuums I've used, even after 25 years) but it seems like they've given up a bit.. not very easy to get hold of.
They're newest is on eBay and very expensive.. May buy a couple of older ones

We have two Birmans and darkish carpets, so keeping fluff at bay is a constant struggle. We used to have a Miele cat and dog which was great, but it eventually died, so we got a Wertheim cat and dog, which was crap. Our current vacuum is an Electrolux Ultracaptic which we find even better than the Miele was. Brilliant machine.
Having a white long haired cat I know all about fur in home issues.
I would recommend this for 150

Absolute bargain in my opinion very powerful and come with long cord and two turbo brushes (small and large) which are essential for getting rid of pet fur.
Easy to clean filters and had no issues in over a year of use.
Have a look over the reviews on Argos.

Thanks for all the answers

Looking at the Miele S7260 and Sebo X4-PET. Prefer the Miele but think it might be too heavy.
We use a furminator for his undercoat and a zoom groom for the top coat... I've used loads of different things and those two work the best on his coat, by far! Hesitant to use them more than once a week in case I damage his coat, though...

We have a Miele dog and cat and it's great - picks up loads of hair from the carpets. We don't have dogs but a very furry Burmese with dense soft fur who moults like crazy ! However the best investment for downstairs (which has the hard floors) was a Roomba... little robot vacuum cleaner which goes around once a day. It gets under sofas and beds etc., and on hard floors it picks up all the fur (and other bits) very nicely. It did a great job upstairs when I tried it there too! Still gets a thorough vacuum once a week but with Roomba once a day all the fur balls and dusty furry bits are gone. Worth thinking about...

Try a Sebo.
German, reliable and you can sort of service them yourself. I've had one for years. I think of them as Miele without the marketing budget.......

We've got a Sebo, had it about 5 years with no issues. Much better than all the Dysons I've had, Dyson just seem to be good at clever marketing, they're realy not that good IMO>
