started fostering for a cat rescue!
Discussion
Im rather excited that I have just started as a volunteer fosterer for a cat rescue and I will be taking in mummy cats that are about to or have just given birth and looking after them until they are old enough to be adopted out at 10 weeks old!
My first incoming mummy cat Suzie will be arriving with her 1 week old kittens (3 ginger and 2 tortie) on Monday! so im very busy setting up the kitten nursery!!
have to share the pics of mum and kittens...
the day before she "popped"

5 little kitties just born

We used to foster for the Cats Protection, we had two pens in the garden and often had to use the spare room in the house as well. We would do it again if we could, but our present place simply isn't suitable. We do have two cats living with us though, neither of which is really ours (one's a stray and the other belongs to next door).
Anyway, well done and I know how satisfying fostering cats can be, especially when they go off to a new permanent home.

What we found when we were fostering (we already had two cats of our own) was that when the first two (which came as a pair) went on to permanent homes is was a bit upsetting, but after that we were just glad for the cats themselves, and handing them over became surprisingly satisfying. Apart from anything else, it meant we would be getting more, and pretty much right away too!
