Spider expert? What the heck is this? Found in Cyprus.

My 9 year old daughter just found this spider (drowned in the pool) in Cyprus. Looks dodgy. What is it and is it venomous?

Any clues as to scale? Looks the perfect Tarantula. My Dad and Step-Mum live in Cyprus and when they lived by the banana plantation, they had a few big spider encounters.
