Any horror stories with this company?
I can get life cover for my Rotweiler for £55 a month which seems excessive but I can't seem to find a quality company much cheaper to warrant it.
Also, is this the premium for the life of the dog or like most insurance companies it will go up once you claim?

We've used them for our 3 cats for the last 11 years and it seems you get what you pay for - never quibbled a claim and some have been significant! Like anything though make sure you stick to the rules on claiming and notification. Our vet handles all the paperwork though so it's really hassle-free.
One thing I will say is make sure you have a honest vet if you are using pet plan.
Seems to be a theme with the vets around here that as soon as they know you have Petplan they get ££ signs in their eyes and suddenly become a lot more interested in going the long way round to treating your pet.
One started off knowing I had Petplan so wanted to do every blummin test under the sun to determine that there wasnt actually a problem except for with the vets knowledge of the breed (£700+)
Another started off not knowing I had Petplan so was taking random guesses at stuff to get me out the door. After 3 return visits I said I may as well lump this into one insurance claim now and suddenly a whole new world of unnecessary treatment was offered.
I have finally found one who seems to be doing an honest and good job. And fixed that last problem in 1 cheap go when they knew I had insurance.
Another local vet ran up a bill of nearly £400 on the Inlaws dog. The vet thought they still had insurance but they didnt anymore as the dog was old and falling apart. They refused to pay as they had not authorised that much and the vet managed to give them an effective treatment for £60.
I know this rant sounds a bit silly as its not your money they are spending but thanks to the couple of claims we have put in that were unnecessary we are now paying about £10 a month more.

We got a free months worth of petplan cover with our adopted dog and will need to choose a replacement after that or carry on with the pet plan cover.
At the moment, terms of comparison criteria, much kudos goes to the insurer who doesn't doesn't pander to alternative medicine jibber jabber and doesn't expect me to pay for free homeopathic treatment. Unfortunately that eliminates all of them so far

Petplan are very well regarded, although not the cheapest of pet insurers it has to be said.
