My wife and I have never had children. No particular reason - just don't have any.

We, therefore, consider ourselves to be 'parents' to whichever animals consider us to be suitable to look after them.

Our two new rescue cats are a mother and son.

I pointed out to my, 42 year old, wife that that makes her the grandmother of the son.

I thought it was funny.

I'm in the doghouse.

Depends where you start from. She could be the younger cat's sister, which would make the older cat her mother...
