So, I've always fed my lawn with an off the shelf lawn 'weed and feed', however last year I stopped feeding the back lawn when we got our guinea pigs, but it's looking a little sorry for its self and im wanting to feed it but I know I'll have to keep the pigs off for a little while if I do.

Does anyone else here feed their lawn that their guineapigs use, if so how long do you keep the pigs off it for before allowing them back on to eat it? Any alternative recommendations? I know there are 'pet safe' lawn feeds but how safe are they actually for guinea pigs?

For reference I use Westland ultra green and occasionally 'All in one'

Thanks

What does it say in the instructions? Possibly 'Children and pets need not be kept off treated areas' - which doesn't mention eating it.

If in doubt contact the manufacturer, because they'll have access to the safety data sheets for the active ingredients.

Thats pretty much exactly what is says.

Good shout, I'll drop them an email.

Tbh, its too cold and damp for them on the lawn atm anyway so likely have time to feed and cut a few times before they're back on the lawn. Just want to be safe rather than sorry.

hehe It's almost as if I worked in the industry when that phrase was introduced isn't it!

We didn't cover eating it though...

Part of my job was answering customer's letters. I really wanted to write a reply to one along the lines of 'Dear Mrs X, We were very sorry to learn of the death of your tortoise following its consumption of our product. Please find enclosed a voucher for a new tortoise.'
