It's only a tiny garden so i was surprised when this happened, took one of the resident Starlings and proceeded to eat it alive much to Mrs Pipster's disgust....the noises the Starling made were pretty horrendous...it's a Sparrowhawk if anyone's wondering....

Fascinating isn't it? Many years ago my dad and me got to within feet of a Sparrowhawk which had caught a woodie in the garden and wasn't for leaving it.

Had a sparrowhawk swoop down a few feet in front of me and the dog and grab a pied wagtail. The poor thing flew right into the hawks path prob because we'd startled it as we walked by. Amazing thing to witness but harsh.

Nature is incredibly cruel.

Great photos though.

Its not cruel at all, its what happened before a poncey wet species like ours started feeling sorry for everything.

Well, I think that eating something alive is pretty cruel...

I don't know, did you see the thing on TV recently where they were using eagles to hunt foxes? Amazing.

Which is my point. Its not, its nature. We just have emotions that interfere with the way things work, and have worked well before us.

No, they were snow foxes. I'd have thought the fox would put up a good fight.

It's nature, and nature is cruel.
