It will happen at some point. Agreed it will need some sort of safety backup, but if it's light then an emergency parachute could be all that's needed. The idea of taking off from my (rural) back garden in Suffolk and then landing on the roof of my North London office building around an hour later is very appealing. 10 years maybe I reckon.

Out of curiosity, once you add a chair does it not become a <450kg microlight and is then hit by a literal wall of red tape & safety legislation? Cant see this working, not legally atleast. 1 death or serious injury they will be sued into oblivion.

The moment somebody flies in one of those, ( if it is for real ) it ceases to be a drone and becomes a manned rotorcraft/ helicopter/ whatever.

A drone is a remotely piloted unmanned aircraft.
