The other day my mind wandered onto the common acronyms, abbreviations and initialisms that 30 years ago most people would have known, but now, no one under 25 would have a clue what they meant.

I remember a couple of good lines from when Robert Powell was quizzing a little girl at her door in a block of flats..

RP: "What's yer name then?"
LG: "Olivia."
RP: "I know you live 'ere. What's yer name?"

And then he told about an incident in an airport, where he had to face a terrorist with
a Baryshnikov.

I'm 31 and in a technical profession. From the list in the OP, I recognise about 30% and they're mostly technical ones! No idea what lots of them are...
