I have often thought I would like to look around the Airfix factory where they make model kits, etc.

Ones I have looked around:

Any number of breweries
Morgan
Where they make Black and Red notebooks ...

What factories are worth looking around?

I've looked around McVities (tasted hobnobs out of the oven), but the one that was mind blowing was Coca-Cola up in Wakefield.

Aluminum cans are built in the factory next door and shot through by compressed air. The factory walkways were raised gangways in a few inches of water and disinfectant. Workers wore boots. When I say workers, teams of 8 were managing the factory at any time. 20,000 cans per hour were made eek

I've been around Lotus a few times, plus a couple of breweries, plus the Honda (as it then was) F1 site in Brackley.

I'd like to go round the Rolls Royce aero engine factory..

I'd also like to go round a steelworks, to experience that elemental heat, noise and light.

I would love to look around the TVR factory, but I will be taking my umbrella.

Years ago, I had a g/f who worked for Bombardier. We visited Montreal, and she arranged for us to be shown around the factory there.

I had zero interest in it, and was actually pretty annoyed - we were in Montreal to go to a gig for my favourite band, and this meant we could not queue as early as I wanted.

But it was fascinating - I really enjoyed it.

I'd quite like to spend an afternoon at Lockheed Martin to see F35 Lightnings being put together.

Also, having seen the handmade Brompton process on the 'Inside The Factory' program I'd like to go along and have a go at brazing a frame.

One of my wife's friends won a tour of the Ferrari factory, including a trip to Bologna. She couldn't use it so sold it to us for £250, fun trip :-)

I'd like to see the Tesla factory

As part of the launch of Motorpunk magazine, the crowdfunders were given a tour of the Morgan factory. My son and I went. It was, as Ayahuasca found, fascinating. I think there are still photos on the Motorpunk website.

Not quite a factory, but I have had cause to visit the Diamond Light Source Synchrotron at Harwell and the Synchrotron Radiation Source (SRS) at Daresbury for work. The former state of the art and the latter, by then a bit Heath Robinson, but amazing.

I've been around The Morgan factory at least seven or eight times since 1977, Not really changed that much other than the addition of a high tech paint shop.

A definite bucket list addition.

Been round McLaren, but that was because I worked for the company that built it.

Saw Hammond at VW but that was ridiculously big, i would rather see a factory or workshop with craftsman.

I used to work at the Nissan Factory in Sunderland (Washington).
Everyone who did the tour went home with a Hard On.
Ultra Managed Tour.
Wow was the most used word.
Loads of MD's from numerous car factories came to look.
I was a close friend of the main tour guy
Sam Harris.
The fishing 'Cod Father' of the North East
TV, Newspaper and Radio local Fishing Hero!
All the people I had contact with in that plant hated the place.
Even though some decent money was earned.
Golden Handcuffs was the keyword.
Ran on fear of losing your job.
Ask any person who worked there on less than 50k.

My uncle used to work in the Airfix factory in the early 70s, despite asking him several times he wouldn't take me to have a shuftie.

Not exactly a factory but still a massive and very impressive place was Swindon Locomotive Works, I went there on organised trips dozens of times between 1973 and its closure in the mid '80s. They built their last loco in 1965 and ceased overhauls on locos in '73 but were kept going with all sorts of stuff until the axe fell. My other half's dad used to deliver photographic materials to the drawing office in the '60s and was allowed to roam around on his monthly visits, seeing some of the Warship and Western class diesel-hydraulic locos being built and vast numbers of GWR locos being scrapped.

Other half wants to do the Morgan factory tour some day....

I visit a lot of factories in my line of work, but one of my favourites by a long way was visiting the Bombardier Montreal facility in Mirabel. Not for the factory itself (which was pretty mundane), but because I got a quick mooch around Mirabel airport, which was still entirely entact and entirely abandoned. It was one of the most surreal places I've ever seen - very cool! It's been repurposed now (I think), but at the time it was just as it was when they ceased operations.
