I hear this a lot, but is it actually true. Less than 8 mins a week, for a few weeks cant be that bad overall. not planning on every week forevermore. Is it worse than actual sunbathing on a hot day for an hour? Surely smoking, drinking etc have a far higher "exposure to cancer" risk
Yes its actually true, sunbeds are awful and drastically increase the risk of skin cancer by a massive amount. The UV power is the equivalent of intense tropical sun and many times worse than sitting the pub garden for a couple of hours. You really think youre going to use it once or twice and like how you look and then never go back? If you dont get skin cancer youll end up looking like a tanned hide in later year. Why ask for advice if youre going to ignore what is common knowledge. Drinking and smoking are shocking badly for you as well. They are all avoidable risks, but you makes your choices and you take your risks. There are easy and better alternatives to look like you've had a bit of winter sun
Maybe this isn't possible, but is the solution not to spend more time outdoors in sunshine (with sun screen on of course!)?
Self tanning and sun beds just seem a little unhealthy and unnecessary.
Is your diet ok? Are you well hydrated? I'd sort those things out first if not.
I suppose what I am trying to get at is try to be healthy, rather damage your health trying to look healthy.
