Mediums, Tarot Readers and Woowoo

I'm curious if anyone here has had an experience they genuinely can't explain where a 'medium' (cold reader or similar) has appeared to know something that, on the face of it, seems impossible?



There seems to be a human instinct to want supernatural magic stuff to be real, as can be seen in the ghost thread.


But has anyone who would ordinarily consider themselves rational and sceptical been given a fright by one of these folk who knew stuff that just shouldn't have been possible?

My aunt, long since departed, was described by many as a white witch - doing good things.

Her regular thing was to buy warts off people, it was as odd as it sounds. Show her a wart and she'd give you some money for it and in a couple of days the wart would disappear.

Not all of them are fraudsters. Some genuinely believe they have special powers, so they're not fraudsters, They're deluded fools.

I think it's all mumbo jumbo although it is quite fascinating how some people are blown away from being told stuff nobody could have known.

You’d think it would be illegal. A punter pays money to be told a load of guff. Is it classed as “entertainment” or some such to avoid legal shenanigans?

A former friend of mine visits a local medium regularly. He bases a lot of his future plans on what she says and pays her a lot. He can’t be told that most of the information about him is available free on google.
He ran a pretty successful business up until a few years ago but managed to put most of it up his nose and as a result his ex-model wife left him and took the kids.

Everyone saw that coming, except himself and the medium.
