My eldest son reaches 18 in October. We've been discussing what he'd like to do with his mates. He's recently passed his driving test so a lot of suggestion is around cars (but not limited to).

He won't be taking his one-litre Corsa (with its black-box fitted) on a track day for sure hehe

He wanted a party and after a long lecture about his contribution towards the upkeep of the house he lives in, I said no. He was clearly very disappointed about it but took it like a man. For the following days his room started to look tidier, he loaded the dishwasher and emptied the bins etc.

One thing he's always said about doing was to go to Germany to watch a football game. I'm taking him to watch Hertha Berlin as well as a tour of the historic Olympiastadion the day before the match. There was a shortlist of teams he would have liked and this was one of them (the others were impossible to get tickets for). In any case, he's happy with Hertha BSC and Berlin is a great city to tour. We'll do that for four days as we talk about the dos and don'ts for his party.

wink

A great idea but it's about seven hours from Berlin and we're flying to and from Brandenburg. With a bit more planning it would have been ace for sure.

If you can change the flights how about coming back via Stuttgart and spend a few hours at the Porsche Museum

Would he not want an object of some sort to mark the occasion?

I guess it's ultimately up to him, but mine both had something tangible - my daughter a watch and my son a guitar... both chosen by them.

If he's rocking a 1.0 Corsa then the obvious answer is a baked bean can exhaust, lowered springs and a set of phat rimz. His mates will all be jealous and he'll have girls fighting over him.

He's talked about wanting to attend matches and visit stadia for couple of years and whilst it probably will be him and his mates going forward, he suggested this to kick it off. It's my time with him around the trip. He'll have other prezzies too. Having me as his dad is the best one tongue out
