I’ll admit I didn’t used to care about using plastic bags

5p, 10p, 20p, 30p I just shrugged & collected them at home.

Occasionally I bought a better one if I’d heavy stuff

40p though appears to have been my limit & I have now discovered a great bag I re-use all the time so thought I’d share.

You don’t always see them, I’ve seen in a Tesco & Morrisons , i genuinely use mine all the time, I’ve easily saved its expensive price, bonus is it’s strong - large one rated for 12kg’s

The wife and eldest both collect these, there have been many different designs over the years.

£10-15 RRP apparently depending on the retailer / version.

They seem quite good,

Some of the discontinued ones on ebay for ~£80 laugh

They're made for retailers to sell direct. The Ocado version is £13.

I use two Papantoniou Supermarket (now Sklavenitis) bags picked up in Paphos some time ago.

Massive, strong and easy to fold up and keep in the boot. Don't fill them with tins or bottles though, it;'s quite a workout!

Best bags I got were from an Mpreis supermarket in Austria. Two sets of handles (normal length for holding in your hand, and longer ones so you can sling it over your shoulder), and a Velcro fastening at the top to keep everything in. €2.99

The Aldi insulated bags have done us proud, I think they were about 90p.

I don’t know how long they’ve been around, but noticed Ikea now sell two smaller sizes of their blue bags.

I have 30 or so old supermarket carrier bags from 10 years back and they are "Bags For Life". When they get too many holes I take them to customer services and they replace with a new bag which is of comparable quality.

We've got some from Carrefour in France that must be 15 years old. Still going strong.

The Lidl ones with the short and long handles are good as well.

We also bought a canvas one from Booths supermarket in the summer - they have a range of 'pun bags' - ours is 'Let's get ready to crumble'. I think Mrs 595 would have bought the whole range...

Are these generally available or only at special times? My Sainsbury cool bag has all but given up the ghost so I need a new one and (my only other local supermarket) Tesco doesn't seem to stock them either.
