Crikey. Since about 6PM, fireworks non-stop. Still going. It's like I imagine the road to Basra being. Neighbour did hove the courtesy to say he was having a small display with chums, and two 100 shot artillery type charges. It is loosing it's charm now....

Every firework seems to go bang. And not just woosh or pop, but bang.

I'm sure someone has assessed that people want a high bang factor to be satisfied... but personally I like a mix of woosh, pop, sizzle, lots of different light patterns and some bang. Not only bang.

I'm glad my cats non plussed about fireworks, the local park have a display from 8pm for half an hour and it literally shakes the windows.
Completely over the top imo and surprised H&S don't set a decibel limit as it can't be good for the small kids hearing, had to turn off the car alarm as it was going off constantly.

I was only thinking earlier after watching £50 - £100k going up in smoke (at a professional display) then getting home and listening to every other house setting alight hundreds worth. How much goes up in smoke in the UK tonight? It must be a staggering amount of cash!

I treated the cats to a Temptations Snacky Mouse each, as I treated myself to a slab of Moretti lager, tonight. Cat flap blocked up, children, wife and I amused for hours with the cats punching the Snacky Mouse. See others' You Tube videos. Still can't contemplate beddy yet, due to the ongoing ordnance in the vicinity, and I still have a few bottles to sink...

Cats are a bit stressed but not overly so.

Doesn't compare to New year's in Austria. Every house had fireworks and I'm talking super powered stuff. It was intense, and tough on my veteran friend.

Just come back from an excellent (free) display at Tamworth Castle.

Full marks to the organisers and council.

It's very windy here so I'm not sure why they are even bothering. We have 1 neighbour that uses any excuse for the fireworks but it's normally in the form of an olympic sized display for about 30 minutes around midnight.

Tonight they started about 6pm and are still going but it seems to be a pattern of: set off firework, have a few drinks, open the next firework, have another drink, set it up, have another drink, fire it off. I fully expect the big show stopper to be set off inside the house by mistake.

1 cat asleep in the dining room near the radiator not really bothered, the other cat doesn't know what to do with himself and is a bit stressed, he gets stressed at everything so it's hardly a surprise. I get the feeling he's desperate for the loo but every time he plucks up the courage to go out another firework goes off and he shoots back through the cat flap with the accompanying sonic boom.

Our cats, which were found abandoned in a box exactly 6 years ago today, are sitting in the window, as they do every year, watching the fireworks with wide eyes!

Only in the UK would we spend 364 days slagging off Politicians.

Only to spend 1 day a year celebrating that the treacherous bds weren't blown up by a revolutionary.

ETA

I get it's interesting for kids.

But once you reach puberty, the novelty of standing in a wet/cold field watching gunpowder explode above you, eating over priced and undercooked burgers and going "woooo" and "ahhhh" like a village idiot should have worn off!

Council. laugh

What a misery! rolleyes

I was working last night but happened to be parked up on the outskirts of Newark around 8pm and was treated to a great firework display for 10-15 mins or so which was aesthetically pleasing to watch. I just about qualify for the 'old ' category these days but there's too many miseries wanting everything banned and shut down because of their intolerance of other things/people. Live and let live.
