Just bought my first house, so I've been perusing the bowels of eBay using a local bargain search on eBay. There the usual fodder, clothes, furniture, some interesting bits of machinery / tools, but then I found a seller listing a used toothbrush holder. vomit It can't get any worse than that can it?

Ah right, it can. (Same Seller)

Ah but fear not. They are hardly used!hehe

What makes it worse is their starting bid is £2(£3.50 postage. WTF). In the "more items like this" bit you can buy new ones for £1!

And no-one has bid on his other 90 lots of comedy-priced boot-sale tat.

Including; £2 HDMI cable for £10+3.50 postage
£2 packet of 3 ladies' tights for just £7.50 inc postage
Jeggings (Primark £4) now only £13.50 inc postage

and don't forget the 'antique' mirror for £19.99 , from the 1970s

So what is so special about Bruce Mortenson who, apparently, ran in the 1972 Olympic Maraathon Trials?

Why do I ask?

Because a pair of 'Shoezeum Vintage' Original OG Moon Shoe Waffle Racer trainers (1st Generation Hollister Bowerman Handmade Moon Shoes) have received a whopping 131 bids with the highest being $10,600.00!!!!

What goes on?

It's only £30 for 6x 3m lengths in toolstation

His only negative is for trying to increase the postage after he wasn't happy with the winning £8.50 bid for 2 pairs of chop sticks

A few weeks ago there was a thread on here about how people are now being charged to dispose of certain items at their local council tip.

One poster's best idea was to put everything on eBay at 99p no reserve, collection only, and had managed to get someone to drive some ungodly distance to pay 99p for a used toilet or something...

I've done something similar

Had a load of tired furniture to get rid off, along with a bunch of stuff from the death of an elderly relative

Put it on eBay gumtree, a lot of 99p stuff never sold, but had questions after a while saying can they come and collect it for free

Saved me a bunch of effort

Also, some people are in their own little world and probably saw toe nail clippers in boots for £12 quid and though they could sell them for a third on eBay, forgetting you can probably get new ones from china for 20p

For me its not so much being charged, but for big items i just dont like taking it to the tip, its lots of lugging etc.. stick it on e-bay for beer money and have someone else haul it away!

Got rid of a fridge for a tenner a few weeks back, saved me the effort of lifting it in/out of the car and driving to the tip, and got beer money out of it.

No I don't want to pay £3.36 to have one delivered in the colour of my choice. I would rather pay another £1.63 on top and go and pick it up.
