It s a linguistic process known as metathesis - as some people may write comfortable but say comfturble. Are they uneducated?

But stload is an alternative to the word shipload, not a mispronunciation of it.

One mans 'mispronunciation' is another mans 'alternative'.
'stloads' is a fairly recent word, apparently first used in the 1960s. "Shiploads', on the other hand, first appeared in print in the 1630s. From this, it would be reasonable to assume the later word is a derivative ie. a mispronunciation of the former.
