Hi, I wondered what people recomend to do service wise on cars outside of warranty but are still of significant value.
I am due a C service on my Sport 410, I am inbetween Silverstone Lotus and Birmingham lotus, but I can also get to a few specialists like HPE, not that I want to sell my car, but are people bothered if its a licensed dealer stamped or an independent? My car is a 2017, so out of warranty, but I still want to make sure it has the best work carried out.
Thanks

Lotus independants are probably held in higher regard than main dealers to be honest!
Best two near you is Dan at HPE (Bromsgrove) or Gav Unit 4 (Burton). I've used both over the years and their work is excellent. Certainly rather trust them than a main dealer (and they're cheaper!)
I'll second this. I had an Elise 111R for 13years. First few services were done at main dealerships, just to make it easy if any warranty work was done. Once the warranty expired, I went to independents. Thankfully have 2 or 3 decent ones around here. When I came to sell it, people who did view it were more interested in the overall condition of the car, once they knew who had serviced itBest two near you is Dan at HPE (Bromsgrove) or Gav Unit 4 (Burton). I have an Emira now and the plan remains the same.
I go by the reputation of the garage and the quality of parts used when the car is out of warranty. I'm not heading automatically for the cheapest!
My car is a late 2015 (65plate) and the last service I got done was at RD Motorsport here in Edinburgh. Rob serviced my BMW M2 when I had it, and is more than handy with the spanners especially given he preps cars for trackwork. He'll easily have a go at Vanos and bearings on V10 M5's which is a necessary set of tasks.
While he hadn't done an Evora 400 before, he researched the model and I brought all the oil / filters etc. I got a great service and there was good comms along the way.
Unfortunately can't say the same for the expected Lotus specialist here in Edinburgh. I've phoned multiple times, left messages and got nothing back.

Assuming its the one in Sighthill you mean, I have used him for several years for my NA and think he has been excellent - he is busy but usually gets back to me at some point. Can't speak highly enough of him.Gassing Station | Evora | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
