Question: Does anyone know whether Halfords home brand oil is just someone else's repackaged?

The 20w 50 (Classic oil in the tin) is or at least was definitely made by comma. Funny as it was always more expensive than buying the Comma branded oil in any motorfactor.

I went to Halfords on Sunday for some oil.

£20 for 5L of part-synth 10W 40. Silly money!

I walked out.

That depends on what engine you have.

Get a vauxhall trade club card (£20) then buy vauxhall semi-syn 10w40 £9 for 5 litres if you buy 4x5L bottles. £12 for 5L if you just buy one.

Tis true, as we speak I am unloading a tanker of oil additive at Comma, so I asked them here and they make all Halfords own brand oil. They also make plenty of other things for Halfords including antifreeze. smile

Who makes the oil in the Tesco branded bottles then? £15 for 4 or maybe 5 litres of semi and fully synthetic stuff the other day.

A lot of the own-brand oils, including Vauxhall's stuff is made by Delphi.

Halfords fully synthetic 5W40 is £11.99 for 5 litres with a trade card (IIRC). I have no problems with it, and becasue it's cheap, it gets changed more regularly - which can't be a bad thing.

There used to be plenty of rumours on the mini forums that I used that Halfords classic oil was made by Duckhams, I've no idea how true those rumours were though.
