agreed, we bought a childseat and the belts were too short to fit around it, also, the rear seat is very flat meaning some child/babyseats done seem to fit securely.
Craig, do you think the baby seat would fit better in the front passenger seat rather than in the back?Luke. said:

We got over the problem with a rubber yogamat in the back to get the angle. The man in halfords seemed happy enough with the way it was.

Agreed, it will depend on the seats, and how many.
When it was fitted it fitted well,(IYSWIM) but there is less room than you would think.
Kids enjoy the elevated view out though.
JM, were yours fitted in the rear of the Cherokee? We only need one seat, as it's going to be our first. But haven't got a clue about what to look at the mo. Slowly learning. When it was fitted it fitted well,(IYSWIM) but there is less room than you would think.

If belt-length is the only issue, then this lot can fit a longer belt for you

We found it easier to have a rear-facing seat in the front, as it's then easier to calm/sort littl'un without taking your eyes off the road, or pulling over. But you need to check passenger airbag (if there is one) is switched off.

Be careful choosing the car seat - there's not much space in the back of an XJ!
