Help, does any-one know of a good Ford dealer in Oxon/Bucks?
Discussion
Hello everyone
Sorry to make such a dull first post, but my dad has a multitude of problems with his 58'reg Focus 1.8 petrol.
It's quite ropey on start-up and idle, it sounds rough and shakes quite noticeably when turning over, the dealer says this is normal.
There is a squeaking/whining under the bonnet that sounds like a bearing, possibly the water-pump?
When reversing on full-right lock the other day there was a juddering/grabbing sound. I was in the car at the time and we checked to see if anything way caught in the wheel-arch or evidence of rubbing, but none was found.
The car is less than two years old and has done only 11,000 miles, (mostly a-roads and country lanes, not urban low speed). He looks after the car well, checks oil, water and tyre pressures weekly, etc.
He's spoken to the local dealers to see if they will look at it under warranty but they won't bother. They told him that Ford sometimes won't reimburse them the costs, leaving them out of pocket. He's been on the phone to Ford customer service but they haven't been much use either.
I know Ford is making great efforts to produce better cars, but what's the point if the after-sales service is weak?
Does anyone know of a dealer in Oxon or Bucks with a more helpful attitude?

Hmm, hard to say - Bicester Ford have been fairly useful, although I wasn't totally convinced by their insistance on changing the brake discs at the service. Staff seem friendly and helpful, and I was charged a lot less in the end, they added a brake fluid change for free.
A little bit out of your way perhaps - but Perrys (Ford) in High Wycombe have been most excellent to me. I gave them my Focus which was squeaking when idling - after a while they traced it back to leaking water pump, was replaced along with all the belts under warranty, had a courtesy car and everything, not a penny asked for. Never had bad service from them, but I'm only one customer with one viewpoint.
EDIT: mine's a 1.6TDCi, so the issue may not be the same.

Iget my parts from Buckingham Ford despite them not being local. Always found them pretty helpful on the parts desk.
But you dont say who his local dealer is!

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I didn't know if this forum has a policy about not naming, but the dealers he got brushed-off by were Buckingham Ford (they also own Bicester Ford) and Hartwell Banbury.
He's just told me he can replicate the 'grabbing' when reversing with full lock now in both directions. Does it sound like the CV joints?
He's looking at trying the dealer at Thame.
