Boat Engines.....as in outboards
Discussion
Is this the right forum? If not please move.
Anyhoo....I have just bought myself an 18ft boat for fishing round the lochs of Bonnie Scotland. The thing is it comes with 2 Tomos 18hp engines. I've had a look at our friend Google and did get some info on these but the question is how easy are these to work on and do they need a specialist outboardy type guy to service and repair them. I don't mind getting stuck into them, but would prefer some information first.

I've got an old Mariner 2HP outboard and if yours is anything like mine, they are incredibly easy to work on - a few bolts and the side panels lift right off and you've got good access to the workings.
I'm currently stripping down and rebuilding mine, fresh oil, grease, spark plug and impeller all came to less than £40.
