This fella wasnt bothered by a bit snow - crazy moped
Discussion
Well i followed a moped home from work about 7am this morning. Crazy bloke didnt vare about the 5 inches of overnight snow, followed him for about 5-6 miles and to give him credit he didnt fall off despite some very hairy moments!!!! makes a mockery of other people using the snow as an excuse!!

As detailed on the "worst experience in snow" thread, I used to motorbike whatever the conditions, and rode in snow like this.
At the time, it seemed the most natural thing in the world, but I'd not fancy it nowadays.
It does, though, suggest that you can get by just fine in the snow irrespective of tyres, or number of wheels.

used to ride in snow myself, take it easy, lean yourself rather than the bike and you will be surprised how much you can get away with. more than anything, follow car tracks and look for the 'best bit of the road'
modern Radial tyres are worse than teh old style that bikes used ( Metz Me33/99's etc) as they have much less tread than old style tyres so I wouldn't feel as confident today on my Varadero as I did on my old GSX400 in 1989.
Fair do to the fella on your photo, but I live > 50 miles from work so I wouldn't fancy that far in those conditions...

It's perfectly possible to ride a bike in snow, provided it's slush/snow and not ice the tyres do a fair job of cutting through to the blacktop underneath. The trick is to be riding something that you don't mind dropping...
At this years Elephant Rally in Bavaria it wasn't too tricky to ride the bike out uphill on this road, even though there was loads of snow and and inch or so of sheet ice underneath it. That's with a fully togged up tourer getting on for 300kg plus a seat so high I could only touch a foot down one side at a time

Awesome snowy bike shot. Much respect. I keep watching the Long Way Round / Down and thinking of getting an off road tourer
Riding was one thing, camping was quite another!!
If you like the whole adventure thing get down to Morocco, we did ~2500miles there in April and it's just stunning, won't post a load of embedded pics as not to hijack but this one was taken in the Atlas mountains:
