Stop Driving So Slowly !!!

I will forego the usual ranting as I am a relative newbie on here and would like to acquire more experience on such posts !.
Anyway personally I do not think that 30 miles an hour in a 60 on a heavily used perfectly gritted , ice free A road is sensible so will people please go a bit quicker. I'm not suggesting everyone nails in at 60 - 70 but please 50 even 45 mph would be an improvement !.

The best I've seen so far was some old dear in a MINI sitting in the outside lane of an otherwise clear (and dry surfaced) dual carriageway at 25mph!
As you can imagine, she was causing chaos behind her...
FFS, if you're that worried about driving when it's a bit chilly, there's a simple solution - STAY AT HOME, and don't annoy the rest of us!

No , afraid not not a 4 x 4 fan yet. (XC90 Comment).
Sorry, dont get me wrong I am not a fast driver but the conditions round my way are not bad and the roads are heavily used and heavily gritted - live near the salt mine !- . I do not tailgate such people and do not overtake but an extra 10 miles an hour average would cetainly be safe IMO.

You should drive at a speed that you feel is appropriate. The other week, on the A90 NSL, it was bucketing down, I felt 40-50 was appropriate, not only the amount of water on the road, but viz was pretty bad as well.
But they still hammered past at 70 in L2.
Remember the speed limit on a road is not a target, it the maximum.

My father, who had been a driving instructor, used to say it's easy to drive fast, knowing when to drive slowly is the hard bit.
Some consideration for others if you choose to drive slowly wouldn't go amiss though. Expect people to drive considerately and as you'd like them to and you will be disappointed and p'd off.
Btw it tends to be 38mph around here.

The thing is, there may be a spot of black ice, so without snow tyres on it is a bit better to be safe than sorry? Plus of course it's far easier to follow a car in it's tracks as you know it will be safe.
At the end of the day, there are all too many people in ditches in weather like this because they have more confidence than skill.
