Just a reminder..... roof avalanches can seriously damage your motor and could even kill you. Do not park beneath a sloping roof with a load of snow on it and be very wary about walking under such roof!!

In many places in mountainous Europe poles are placed leaning along the walls beneath such roofs to warn people to stay away.

Its not just fluffy snow that comes down. The base layer compacts and turns to thick ice slabs. When it lets go the whole roof of snow and ice can come down dragging guttering and roof tiles with it. If a chunk of ice hits you it could kill.

When there is a lot of snow I have seen guys on roofs knocking it off safely. The weight can collapse a roof if its not been designed to take a load of snow on it.

Just a heads up!

Happened in the work car park earlier this year - chap had the roof of his Honda Jazz somewhat caved in by a large dump of snow - repair bill was around £3K IIRC.
