It was bad enough that my missus got charged £175 for a tyre that costs about £100 elsewhere - she really should have called me first - but when I looked at the bill there was a £2 fee for a "nitrogen fill".

Now that's the first time I've seen that charged for explicitly!

It's a small amount of money but to do it without asking on top of the "premium" price for the tyre takes the biscuit. But hey ho such is life, she won't be using them again.

Just a word of warning for others - remember to ask for plain air wink

I do it for £1.50, with special air. 78% Nitrogen, 21% Oxygen plus additives, which are

Argon 0.934 %
Carbon Dioxide 0.0314 %
Neon 0.001818 %
Methane 0.0002 %
Helium 0.000524 %
Krypton 0.000114 %
Hydrogen 0.00005 %
Xenon 0.0000087 %

Plus a bonus addition of fart. Bargain.

This + 10100010101010101

I would understand a man on the street possibly, if they had been living in a cave for the past 20 years, or only just awoken from a coma, going there. But surely anyone who has contact with any other driving human beings, or has had any experience of life whatsoever would know the 3 golden rules of life

1) Drink plenty of water
2) Never, ever under any circumstances, ever, whatever the reason, even if you have a chance of winning £1,000,000,000 by going there, visit Kwik Fit under ANY circumstances. There is no such thing as a circumstance to visit there, ever. Whatever the reason, it can wait, or be avoided.
3) Never forget to breathe in and out.

Costco change the tyre, fit a new valve, fill with nitrogen, balance the wheel, rotate as needed and dispose of the old carcass, all within the quoted price of the tyre.

And are still cheaper than anyone else.

(But only stock Michelin and Continental unfortunately).

Not all of us have the option of avoiding them. Those of us with company cars (me), have to use kwik fit because the lease company say so.

Re charge for nitrogen. I had nitrogen the first time I went but didn't get nitrogen on the second visit?

If you look at the bill they itemise out the fitting etc at £7 - until recently it was only £3. On the cheap tyres on the kids cars that's quite a difference.

I don't think they're that cheap anymore either - with the special 20% off deals they're cheaper but you have to buy 4 tyres. Any other time I can get lower prices elsewhere.

She popped in for a puncture repair... unfortunately it was on the inner tyre edge so a unilateral decision was taken idea I suppose if she hadn't got a new tyre when she did she could have been splatted on the way home... unlikely but nevertheless...

Nitrogen in tyres - Makes me laugh so much people have to be a grade A mugs if they think it makes a sts worth of difference on road cars - I have mates who race who can't be arsed with it - We serviced an old boys Volvo 760 turbo a while - when I say service, I mean correct all the faults the main dealer had made to it - They filled the tyres with nitrogen and after charging him, told him not to let anyone touch them - ummm, yeah that nitrogen will come in handy as he potters about at 20mph everywhere!

If you look at the bill, the total price is still what it says on the shelf edge.

You can get them cheaper? Where?

Not that I'm calling you a liar, but...
