Propane gas cylinders

Hi guys can anyone help, I'm currently living in a caravan !! in the Scottish Highlands, hoping to build a house next year ! and yes, at the moment it's very cold, but I'm not snowed in yet though !!. I use the orange/red propane gas for heating and cooking and am having trouble with it freezing. I think it's the valve. I managed to get it thawed out but this morning, when I turned the hob on the gas gushed out with a lot of noise and quite big flames that were yellow. Does anyone know what the problem is.
