Cheap winter hack
Discussion
I don't fancy taking the MGB out through all this snow and such what (not just because of my driving but also the grit etc) which has lead me to start looking at cheapy old sheds to run through the winter.
So far the list of possibles and maybes contains a '98 Fiesta for £595, '90 Fiesta for £395, '96 Clio for £450 and a '96 Escort for £450.
Am I looking at the right kind of things?
Is there any manufacturer I should be looking at in particular for cheap old sheds?
All it needs to be is <£600 and a small engine for insurance as I'm 17.

I had an old fusty for a while, it was good fun in the snow. You can't go much wrong with one, fwd and skinny tyres. Also as they are heaps of s
t you won't feel guilty about running it in the salt.
Or you could probably get a rover / austin metro for even cheeper, although I won't comment on the reliability

Bah, I drove my MGB through the winter for several years without having any problems, it's great fun.
Just make sure it's undersealed properly and it ought to be OK as long as you clean off all the salt regularly. One of my inner wings rusted away, but it was already holed so it got salt inside and rusted from the inside out. The panels that were intact were fine.

Here she is again.

213S cheap insurance.
Reliability? Honda engine.
42,000 miles and three owners from new (third lowest known mileage according to the Rover OC).
Near complete history and original reciept.
Narrow nearly new tyres (ideal for snow).
£350!
Just as a bonus there are only 169 series 1 Rover 200's left in the UK so she won't loose any money so long as I look after her.
Fancy a swap for your B?

My mum had one of those when i was about 8...the abiding memory is the clutch giving up on the M5 en route to Devon.
