Who needs 4WD...
Discussion
Okay, for my commute the answer is nobody as it's mostly cleared and (before someone says it...) 2WD and summer tyres are fine. But nonetheless I did respect the guy I saw driving in the opposte direction on one of the few uncleared snow-covered parts of the drive this morning. He was in a Mk1 Capri...
Must be quite entertaining. Maybe he was off to do some tyre-friendly Bodie and Doyle impressions in a snow covered car park?

Last year I drove about most places in an MGB GT but this year it's been significantly worse once you leave the bus routes and main roads. However, the biggest problem is other drivers - if it wasn't for other people getting stuck and making me lose momentum I'd be fine probably. Also there have been instances where so many cars have been abandoned in ridiculous places that I've needed the 4x4 to do a spot of off roading and drive round the problem.
Last year my Focus derv got me everywhere with very few issues. That was running on 17" wheels, wide, low profile summer tyres of which the front 2 failed the MOT soon after, low, stiff suspension etc. This year, although the snow is much worse the puma struggles. The tyres are quite new and have loads of tread but they are summer tyres once again. Its has traction control which the Focus didnt and even with momentum it struggles up most gradients!
I wish I had 4wd.

Let's try to keep snow related stuff in one thread, there's enough outside without PH being smothered too.
